Why We Love Pink Grapefruit!

Grapefruit (Citrus Paradisi) is one of the most commonly used scents in perfume making. Although the grapefruit comes from the citrus family, its aroma is somewhat different and, apart from the freshness that citruses are known for, it offers an energetic yet elegant feel that sets it apart from other fruits. Its fragrant note is a lively and sparkling, sweet & bitter mix that gives a feeling of opulence and luxury. Like other citrus fruits, grapefruit is often used in the production of perfume as a top note if it is a naturally extracted. As a top note, it gives a fresh, crisp, and exciting start to the whole blend of notes, providing a seductive and juicy moment of familiarization with the fragrant composition.

BENEFITS

Grapefruit oil is extensively used as a flavour in softdrinks and as a fragrance component in soap, detergent and skin products. It’s also been used in aromatherapy and perfumery for centuries. It has a fresh, tangy scent that is similar to that of lime, but sweeter. The fresh smelling essential oil is a great addition to any fragrance blend searching for a bright, citrusy aromatic entrance.

A MODERN PERFUME INGREDIENT

Often used with other citruses like Bergamot, Lemon, Mandarin and Orange, Grapefruit adds a slightly tart aroma to fragrances that are overly sweet. Also pairs well with aromatic, green, floral, minty and fruity notes like Strawberry, making the scent less bitter, so even more sweeter and juicier. Grapefruit is the perfect scent for Summer!

Here are a few of our favorites:

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune – great to wear on a midsummer day. Cool, casual and sophisticated making it a real standout.

Demeter Pink Grapefruit – a striking, crisp and juicy fragrance that captures the freshness of grapefruit. From the Demeter perfume library which remembers your own personal experiences, Pink Grapefruit is like an exotic tropical cocktail with fruity notes of guava, mango, luscious passionfruit with a dash of orange liqueur. This is a very young and flirty fragrance which just might prove that Grapefruit perfume can indeed make you look and feel younger.

Hermes Pamplemousse Rose – This long-lasting unisex cologne is composed of grapefruit, orange, lemon and rhubarb. One of the standouts from perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena’s tenure at the house. The notes mix with Vetiver to leave a rose impression that smells like sheer transparent woods at the drydown.

HOW WE USE IT
